[PICS] Hiro from Big Hero 6 comes alive!

How is your cosplay so perfect…?” “How did you escape from the movie screen?!” “Are you ACTUALLY Hiro?”

For Filipino artist and self-confessed “cosplay dork” Jin, questions like these are a regular occurrence. Already an internationally recognised cosplayer, when promo images for Big Hero 6 were released last year, Jin began to get messages from fans pointing out an uncanny resemblance to the film’s central protagonist Hiro Hamada. Which is pretty interesting, seeing Big Hero 6 is a Disney movie and Hiro is, of course, computer-animated.

Intrigued, Jin tried it out – and has been cosplaying Hiro ever since. Fast-forward a few months and Jin and friends continue to produce incredibly realistic, beautifully produced photos of cosplayed Big Hero 6 scenes. Join us after the jump as we take a look!

Without further do, let’s take a look! 😀

[PICS] Internet falls in love with Chinese cosplaying beauty that apparently she’s a MALE

Love-struck netizens across China, Taiwan and Japan have been voicing their disappointment after finding out that the exceptionally cute girl pictured above is actually an exceptionally cute boy. This isn’t the first time this kind of switcheroo has happened (it’s quite common actually) but netizens seem to be especially upset this time around. Maybe it’s this young man’s choice of outfit (characters from the light novel The “Hentai” Prince and the Stony Cat.) or maybe it’s just how different his before and after photos are, but one things for sure: this cosplayer is a total hottie.

Update: In its original form, this story alluded to online rumors and supposed “proof” that cosplayer AHO is in fact male. As many of our readers have pointed out, that information is false, and the cosplayer has been plagued by this rumor for some time. AHO is indeed every bit as female as she looks, and we apologize for unintentionally perpetuating this untruth. The fact of the matter is, as we acknowledged in our original article, whether man or woman the cosplaying skills displayed in AHO’s photographs are stunning, and we invite you to view more on her Facebook fan page here.

I would also like to personally apologize for the sloppy journalism displayed on my part. There were several factual errors in the article and I regret perpetuating rumors and false information found online, regardless of the number of times we have met with cases of stunning female cosplayers who turned out to be male all along.

Going by the name “AHO,” the beauty above resides in China and keeps up an active Facebook account filled with enough costumed poses to give you inspiration for your own photo shoot. Here she is in action:

[PICS] Every weekend is an itasha car show at Akihabara’s UDX parking garage

tasha cars have seen their popularity explode over the last few years, as social networking allows owners to share their rides more easily with other anime enthusiasts. In turn, this greater exposure has encouraged owners to get together to snap photos and swap ideas, usually by meeting up in a parking lot or garage.

Of course, if you’re the proud owner of an itasha, you probably don’t mind mixing in a little anime shopping with your trip out of the house, so Akihabara is the obvious destination. UDX not only has a convenient location, it’s also entirely enclosed, meaning you don’t have to worry about rain or other inclement weather damaging your painstakingly applied anime artwork.

UDX parking garage staff member Shuhei Abe says that he first noticed a sharp increase in the number of itasha customers the garage had about three years ago. He started posting snapshots of the cars to the company’s blog, and eventually UDX became known as the place to scope out and display itasha. The garage has become so well-known that itasha magazines and photographers occasionally rent out a section for photo shoots.

[PICS] Adorable tiny Cosplayer

There’s a long-running debate over whether or not Sailor Moon is actually for little girls. On the one hand, the series’ core cast of heroines are all 14-year-olds, and the magazine the comic was originally serialized in, Nakayoshi, has elementary and middle schoolers as it target demographic.

Still, the legions of adult Sailor Moon fans around the world would argue the story has plenty of witty self-referential humor and mature content, including romance and violence. Why, just look at Sailor Saturn, whose powers of death and destruction give her the capability to annihilate entire worlds.

Of course, the character doesn’t look nearly so intimidating when she’s being cosplayed as by an adorable toddler.

Fancy Frontier, Taiwan’s largest anime convention, recently wrapped up its two-day festivities. Like similar gatherings in other countries, Fancy Frontier is a chance for fans to gather, shop for the latest goodies from their favorite series, and show off their animation and video game-inspired costumes.

A quick look at the event’s official Facebook page turns up amazingly intricate creations, not to mention cosplayers showing off their impressive physiques in revealing outfits. The real show-stealer, though, was this pint-sized Sailor Moon fan.
